Privacy Policy

HeliBuddy is a reference tool for Robinson helicopter pilots. We collect minimal data and will never sell it. This policy describes what we collect, why, and how to reach us with questions.
1. Information we collect
When you sign up for launch notifications on this website, we collect:
- Your email address
- The date and time of submission
- Approximate country (inferred from IP address for spam detection — not stored)
We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal data through this website.
2. How we use your information
Your email address is used solely to send you a single notification when the HeliBuddy app launches. We will not send marketing emails, newsletters, or any unrelated communications without your explicit consent.
3. In-app data (mobile app)
The HeliBuddy mobile app is designed to be offline-first. All flight-planning data — weight & balance inputs, density altitude calculations, checklists, and compression-5 logs — is stored only on your device. None of this data is transmitted to our servers.
Weather data is fetched from aviationweather.gov (FAA) when you request it. No personal information is sent with these requests.
We do not embed advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking in the app.
4. Data retention
We retain your email address until you request deletion or until one year after the app launches, whichever comes first. You can request deletion at any time by emailing info@helibuddy.com.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- As required by applicable law or valid legal process
- To protect the safety of our users or the public
- In connection with a merger or acquisition — in which case we will notify affected users
6. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or analytics scripts. The only external request made is loading fonts from Google Fonts. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle font requests.
7. Security
Email addresses collected through this website are stored with appropriate access controls. We use TLS for data in transit. No security measure is perfect; if you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
8. Children
HeliBuddy is intended for licensed pilots and student pilots. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has submitted their information, please contact us at info@helibuddy.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app and website evolve. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site or app after changes constitutes acceptance.
